Overcoming Sugar Cravings and How To Stop Eating Sugary Foods

Sugar, or sucrose, is easy to digest being a refined carbohydrate. Sugar is packed with calories and can usually be found in high fat foods such as rich desserts. And here is where the problem lies. Sucrose can make food taste wonderful. Cravings for sugar can be a massive set back for those who wish to maintain a healthy eating plan. Here are some tips to stop craving sugar.

Start by adding more protein to your diet. For a lot of people, the need for protein can be registered by the brain as the need for a sweet treat. Eat steak or eggs next time you have a sugar craving to see if the craving goes away.

It is important to discard any possible temptation if you wish to break the habit. This would usually include a careful clean out of the fridge and food cupboards. Throw cakes, cookies and any ice creams in the bin. When shopping in the future, avoid buying anymore of the same sweet foods.

Go for lean protein or whole grain unsweetened cereals. Don't use artificial sweeteners. Studies show us that for some these allow the body to crave the real thing. Drinking a diet soda could make you crave dessert after dinner.
