The issue of child trafficking has become a major concern worldwide. Trafficking is a lucrative industry. It has been identified as the fastest growing criminal industry in the world.
It is second only to drug trafficking as the most profitable illegal industry in the world. Child trafficking generally involves transportation from one country to another, where legal entry would be denied upon arrival at the international border. There may be no deception involved in the agreement. After entry into the country and arrival at their ultimate destination, the smuggled person is usually free to find their own way. The traffickers force the parents to sell their little children to them.
Can you imagine being forced to take the grim decision to sell your child? These children become enslaved to criminals who peddle them like merchandise in the sex trade. Some children end up as beggars. Some work day after day as laborers. Education is the best shield against this horrible trafficking business. When people are enlightened about a particular issue, they land up fighting with the negative impact. The children, in a very early age, should be given proper information regarding this serious social issue.
Through the classes held in villages, children learn about child abuse, traffickers’ scams, and their rights as children. Children who would otherwise not be in school are given a basic education in an outdoor classroom right in their village or neighborhood. We can help protect these innocent children by teaching them about the dangers of trafficking and telling them how to protect themselves by providing a basic education for children who would otherwise not be in school to learn a vocational skill and safely earn an income.
